What to Do in Class When Bored Funny Texts

Whether you find yourself having to sit through a classroom lecture or just want to kill extra time, there are many fun things to do when bored in class. You may have a hard time concentrating and want different ways to entertain yourself (you're in the right place!)

Or depending on your current schooling situation, your teacher – either in a physical or virtual classroom setting – may actually give you time to enjoy bonus activities.

Whether you're in second grade or high school, taking an online course or just stuck in a boring lecture- when you find yourself needing an extra little something to do, here are a few ideas to keep you occupied (including both quiet and cheeky ideas!).

When is it okay to do extra activities in class?

Of course you don't want to be disruptive or rude to your teacher or other students so after class starts, knowing the appropriate time to do extra things is important. It's also the best way to ensure you have fun while getting good grades!

If it is your first time in a class or there's a particular subject you need to concentrate in, the best thing would be to hold these ideas until later- and try not to do these first thing in the morning, give your teacher time to get class underway.

Hopefully your academic schedule is set up to provide teachers with teaching time and time for you to do work, as well as a small amount of free time.

Other times, the teacher may delay in getting started on the day's lesson, which means open time during the beginning of class. And in some cases, the teacher purposefully provides students with time to engage in personal creative activities. The good news is that these ideas are a great way to spend break times too!

All of these instances are perfect for using some of my ideas below of things to do when bored in class. The only times you don't want to veer off the schedule is if your teacher has asked you to pay attention to a particular lesson or to work on a specific assignment.

Other than these moments, take note of the ideas below to find productive things to do in a boring class until the bell rings!

Things to Do When Bored in Class

1. Pretend you an a friend are sitting in the seats of a jet fighter and talk to each other like pilots ("Roger than", "over and out")
2. Draw a fantasy escape plan out of school- this can include tunnels, flying, or anything else you can imagine!
3. Try and memorise and repeat all states in the United States, in alphabetical order- the whole class could have a great time doing this as a competition!
4. Go in 'slow motion', 'fast forward' or 'rewind' mode- pretend to give your friend an imaginary remote control!
5. Play a simple game with your friends like tic-tac-toe or hangman, or play thumb war
6. Try and write while making sure your index finger (pointer finger) doesn't touch your pen
7. Make a piece of paper into a paper aeroplane and see if you can get it to the other side of the room.
8. Draw red dots on yourself and pretend you had no idea how they got there.
9. Make a dream board- draw and write down all the things you hope to do and see someday
10. Make a list of one interesting thing you know about each of your classmates (be sure to be kind!)
11. Hand in a blank page and pretend you can see your work on it.
12. Screw up a piece of paper and kick around a paper football
13. Make a cone shape with a piece of paper and answer all your questions through it like a loudspeaker
14. Write about your day in a journal or diary.
15. Draw or doodle what the weather is like that day.
16. Make a news article about something cool that has happened to you
17. If your friend talks to you in class, answer in a creepy voice or a different language
18. Try and write a paragraph with you're left hand (if you're right handed, and vice versa)
19. Write down all the different things you would do if you won the lottery.
20. Write a story about what everyday life is like in your country compared to other countries
21. Write a survival list- if you were stuck in an underground bunker for a long time, what would you need?
22. As a joke, find the perfect time to make loud animal noises, sing the mission impossible soundtrack or announce that it is time for you to return to your home planet.
23. Bring a teddy bear to school and make it talk instead of you
24. Invent an imaginary friend, "Bob", and insist he have a seat next to you as well as work to do!
25. Brain dump ideas you've had.
26. Jot down a to-do list of things you need to do after school.
27. Sketch a friend or favorite animal.
28. Write down a bucket list of places you'd like to visit.
29. Design sock puppets to make at home
30. Imagine you had psychic powers – what would everyone in your class be thinking?
31. Brainstorm different adventures you'd like to do.
32. Use a few classmates and make up a story.
33. Look out the window and find things to be grateful for.
34. Write a rhyming poem using each letter of your first name.
35. Make up a story idea of what life would be like on another planet.
36. Write down a recent dream you've had.
37. Pretend you're running for a government position and write a campaign slogan.
38. Imagine you're a spy and write down what is going on in the classroom next to yours.
39. Write a culinary review of the breakfast menu.
40. Create a new language with symbols.
41. Think about questions you would ask a celebrity.
42. Make a house by stacking packs of gum or erasers on top of each other
43. Count down in minutes until the end of the day
44. Write about your favorite character in a book you've recently read.
45. Take a current event and write it in your own words.
46. Turn a recent experience into a news story.
47. Pretend you are reporting live at another school in your town.
48. Write a note and leave it for the person who sits at your desk during the next class period.
49. Try writing your name in different fonts.
50. Guess your classmate's favorite foods.
51. Create a comic strip using your friends as the main characters.
52. Pretend you are the substitute teacher and write about what you'd do.
53. Practice deep breathing and meditation techniques.
54. Make a siren noise when an ambulance or police car passes your school
55. Using only emojis, write a cryptic message to a friend.
56. Describe different versions of your classroom (past, present, and future).
57. Pick up your pen, lick your lips and say "mmmm snack time"!
58. Wear sunglasses and a plastic fake police badge to class and insist your name is "Officer"
59. Drop a pen on the floor and retrieve it by reeling out an imaginary fishing rod- pretend your pen is a heavy, flapping fish!
60. Write a letter to your future self.
61. Think about your favorite recipe and write it from memory.
62. Plan your best birthday party.
63. Write your ideal meal plan.
64. Make a list of things you want to sell.
65. Write down the details of your dream job.
